Geopolitical terms; In terms of meaning and purpose, in order to understand any concept, we must introduce it in terms of terminology. The term geopolitics “consists of two words, the Greek “GEO” meaning “earth” and the word “Political” means “politics or the management of the affairs of the city (state), and the two words together mean “land politics”. While the term geopolitics stems from political geography, what distinguishes it from political geography; it is reading and analyzing the future of the problems of the state and political units with new tools.
In Kurdish, words such as “political land” are sometimes used instead of “geopolitical”. Among those who have paid special attention to the term is the Swedish-German thinker Kilin. He was the first to use the term “geopolitics” to mean “natural environment for the state” and the Germans interpreted it differently, later at the German Geopolitical Institute by Karl Haushofer it developed. However, “the decent use of the term ‘geopolitics’ and its difference from political geography goes back to the Swedish geographer Rudolf Killin. For Killin, geopolitics is the natural environment of the state, which was greatly influenced by German geographers, especially Ratzl. For Killin, the state is a living being, its land in its capital is its heart and lungs, roads and rivers are its blood vessels, its wings are agricultural areas and minerals on its inhabitants, its civilization, its economy, its rule, and its land. In his view, geography should be at the service of the state, so geography then becomes geopolitics.
