Poverty is a state or condition in which a person or community lacks the financial resources and essentials for a minimum standard of living. Poverty means that the income level from employment is so low that basic human needs can’t be met.
In the economic system, poverty has not solution under the shadow of diverse economic systems. The question here is; does financial incomes are the main factor of poverty? Or does the method of managing economic resources are the reason?
There are two chief factors of poverty, which are:
First: rareness of various economic resources in the country is two types:
1.Short-term, this type occurs during natural disasters like; flood, earthquake, volcano and etc.
2.Long-term, this type has two reasons
· Due to geographical distribution of economic resources.
· Due to unstable circumstances as political and civil wars, which because of these factors cannot take benefits from agricultural lands and they become a victim of the conflicts.
Second: the lack of social justice in country, like the states poverty spread in. Additionally, despite having much economical resources and capitals, but still some of rich countries have people who live under poverty’s line like oil countries. Above all is the United States of America which 20 per cent of its populations are living in poverty. While, the world’s most capital is in that country and only “General Motors” enterprise has as much capital as many African countries.
Poverty in Iraq

Iraq merely depend on oil, therefore any decreasing on oil price has direct impacts on necessary incomes of the country. And then collapse of the Iraqi dinar price has occurred for behalf of filling financial shortfall. Most of daily foods are importing abroad which has direct influences on prices of these daily basic needs. We can say that due to covid-19 and above mentioned reasons in Iraq, more than 9 million and 600 hundred thousand people are living in the poverty line in the country. Spokesman of ministry of planning of Iraq declared that: in the southern cities more than 30 to 35 per cent, in the middle cities reaches 20 per cent and in the capital of Iraq, Baghdad 13 per cent of its habitation are living in poverty. In Iraqi Kurdistan the percentage of poverty is 12 per cent.
