States intelligence activities considered as one of essential techniques of safety, strengthen national security and collect information of the enemy’s weak and strong points. Either they are friends or Hostile, knowing information about them is rich assets for the state, but if they hostile, thus information will more effective, in particular, if the information on the enemy’s military basements and ability. In addition, in order to achieve these information, it deserves hard efforts.
Despite Israel is new state in the side of establishments and contents compare to other region’s states backgrounds, but the Israel’s intelligence agencies count as potentialforces in the region.
In the sixties, Israel’s intelligence agency fulfilled significant operation to indicate the Iraq’s air forces ability, below explores how the operation is done and potential side of it:
The notion of the operation and first attempt’s failure:
The last sixties, there was a strict conflicts between US and previous Soviet Union, the cold war between these two powers reached top. Both were in quick competition in order to obtain modern nuclear weapons and attract most friends in this context Soviet Union started to product a new and unique jet fighter (Mig 21).
Israel intelligence agency (Mossad) and US intelligence agency (CIA) attempted to gain information about this new Soviet jet. For this purpose Israel’s first attempt was through Egyptian officer within paying one million US dollars, at the result the attempt was failed and he punished with death penalty.
New plan for the same determination:
Mossad’s attempt continues particularly after Mair Amet became agency leader. He tries to use several difference ways such as obliged Egyptian and Syrian jets landed in Tal Abib airport, but because of speed of the jet this attempting was again failed.
Later on in order to improve the talents of the agency and the new leader, Mossad think of new technique. The plan was buying one of the Iraqis pilots; in these area four pilots has been indicated (Captain Shakr Mahmoud, Captain/ Mohammad Ghalib, Captain/ Christian Munir Rufa, and First Lieutenant/ Hamid Zahy) the Christian was the best because they have been oppressed by consequences Iraqi governments.
Mossad unsuccessful with the three Iraqis except their plan was successes through Rufa, the plans started when Rufa was agreed to help Mossed in one condition which bring his entire family to Britain. The plan was begin when Rufa as a last chance participated in air forces parade on August 16, 1966 from Rashid base. Finally Mossad’s plan to achieve the new technology of the jet was successful and then they give the information to US in 1968.
Then as a parade the jet was flight to highest level of space by Israel’s pilot Dani Shapera. At present the jet is taken in Hatim military base museum for the visitors. Finally Rufa met his family in Tal Abib till he dead in 1998 by heart attacked.
