The first attempt to establish such a conference was made in 1948 by Aladdin Sajadi, who wrote about it in the fourth issue of Nzari magazine on May 15 of that year. Following this Kurdish political magazine, the Zhin newspaper, No. 1244, on 25/4/1957, repeated this demand. After the July 14, 1958 revolution, this demand became a public slogan Kurdish intellectuals and it became a main demand of the Kurdish teachers’ congresses in Shaqlawa in 1959 and 1960. During those two years, the newspaper Khabat and the magazine Hiwa wrote about the establishment of the Kurdish Information Forum. They considered it a legitimate and necessary demand of the Kurdish people and this hope of the Kurds remained within the framework of the efforts and demands of the Kurdish intellectuals until the issuance of the declaration of March 11, 1970. In late August 1970, the Revolutionary Leadership Council issued Law No. 813 on the establishment of the Kurdish Information Center to become the Kurdish branch of the Iraqi Information Center and an institution which was considered to have personal, financial and administrative independence. Its headquarters was in Baghdad.
Its objectives; Article 3 of the Kurdish Information Forum Law stated:-
- Conducting studies and information research in Iraq to keep pace with the development of information.
- Preserving the Kurdish language and working to develop it by demanding information, literature and arts.
- Reviving Kurdish and Islamic culture in information, literature and arts.
- Paying attention to studying the history of Iraq and civilization in general and Kurdish regions in particular.
- Publishing original research and encouraging translation and publication of information, literature and art.
The following reasons were identified for the objectives of the conference:-
- Establishment of linguistic and information dictionary.
- Publishing magazines and publications.
- Printing of old books, documents and texts.
- Strengthening the relationship between the Iraqi Information Forum and the information, linguistic and cultural institutions in Arab countries and others.
- Awarding outstanding researchers, scientists and writers.
- Financial assistance to researchers, writers and translators.
- Call for writing and translation of articles selected by the conference.
- Holding conferences for study.
- Establishing a library for conferences and enriching it and paying attention to printing affairs in it, in order to research and complete the work of conferences and meetings and fulfill its message according to its objectives, which are stated in the law, the council may form the following committees from among its members:-
- Language and Information Committee.
- Committee on Literature and Culture.
- Information Committee.
- Cultural Committee.
- Translation, Writing and Broadcasting Committee.
- Islamic Civilization Committee.
- Economic and Legal Information Committee.
- Library and Magazine Committee.
The rules of procedure of the Kurdish Information Forum in the first part defined “membership” as follows:-
- Active and vacant members, whose number does not exceed (15) members, provided that the number of vacant members does not exceed (5).
- Active members.
- Members of Honor.
The conditions for membership were to have a good knowledge of one or more branches of information and original works in it, or to know Kurdish language very well and be proficient in one of the living languages or be old and able to identify and select terms. However, the Revolutionary Leadership Council soon issued a decision No. 217 on 4/4/1972, which amended the first and second paragraphs of the sixth article of the law as follows: “Members of the Kurdish Information Forum consisted of 15 members, provided that only five of them work daily as special employees in the conference.” Following the publication of the Kurdish Information Forum Law No. 183 of 1970, the Minister of Education requested that the presidency of the Kurdish Information Forum be elected and appointed the General Board of the Iraqi and Korean Information Forum On the evening of 17/3/1971, the Iraqi Information Forum was chaired by Abdul Razzaq Mohidin and attended by the Minister of Education, Dr. Ahmad Abdul Sattar The meeting was held to elect the presidency of the Kurdish Information Forum. All the members of the Kurdish Information Forum were present at the meeting, including:- “Ehsan Sherzad, Aziz Aqrawi, Sheikh Mohammad Khal, Alaeddin Sajadi, Dr. Ahmad Ali Osman, Dr. Pakiza Rafiq Hilmi, Dr. Abdullah Naqshbandi and Abdulrahman Hazhar The secrets of the president and members of the presidency of the Kurdish Information Forum were elected and the following results were obtained:-
- Ehsan Sherzad-President of the Conference.
- Aziz Aqrawi, First Vice President.
- Sheikh Mohammed Khal, Second Vice President.
- Alaenddin Sajadi-Member.
- Naji Abbas-Member.
A change in the office of the presidency of the conference; The General Committee of the two Iraqi and Kurdish Information Forums met on 28/11/1972 and elected two active members for the Presidency of the Kurdish Information Forum, which were as follows:-
- Massoud Mohammed.
- Dr. Kamal Mazhar Ahmad.
With the appointment of these two new members, the Presidency Office was formed as follows:-
- Ihsan Sherzad-President.
- Massoud Mohammed, First Vice President.
- Sheikh Mohammed Khal, Second Vice President.
- Alaeddin Sajadi-Member.
- Dr. Kamal Mazhar-Member.
Prominent works of Kurdish Information Forum; during its establishment until its dissolution in 1978, it has done many important and useful works, the most obvious of which were the following:-
- Teachers Tofiq Wahbi Beg and Abdullah Naqshbandi as honorary members of the conference.
- Teachers: – P. It has accepted Kurdo, Kamran Badrkhan and Dr. Abdul Rahman Qasemloo as active members abroad.
- Assistant Members of the Conference: In 1972 and 1973, the Kurdish Information Forum elected the following teachers as assistant members of the conference: “Arabi Shamo, Dr. Hajia Jundi, Faiq Hoshyar, Abdulhamid Atroshi, Dr. Jamal Rashid, Shakir Fatah, Dr. Nasrin Fakhri, Rushan Badrkhan, Mamdooh Salim, Akram Jamil Pasha, Ali Saydo Gorani, Mohammed Mustafa Kurdish, Jamal Baban, Dr. Kamal Mohammed Saeed, Dr. Samal Majid Faraj, Dr. Aziz Ahmed, Dr. Ahmed Osman Abubakr, Sadiq Bahaaddin, Osman Auni, Dr. Kamil Basir, Kamal Jalal Gharib, Hafiz Mustafa Qazi, Ahmad Tahir Naqshbandi, Mohammed Amin Osman, AA Shawnm, Dr. Abdulrahman Haji Marf, Giwi Mukriani, Brigadier Ahmed Hassan, Rashad Mufti, Mustafa Nariman, Mohammed Amin Hawrami, Kaka Fallah, Karim Sharaza, Rauf Alani, Dr. Qarani Doghramachi.”

dissolution of the Kurdish Information Forum; After the Ba’ath government renounced the national rights of the Kurdish people, according to the law number (163) of 1978, the Kurdish Information Forum was dissolved and made it a Kurdish committee in the Iraqi Information Forum The Kurdish Information Forum was dissolved and the Kurdish Writers Union was dissolved and merged into the Union of Writers from Iraq.
