The Murji’ah and Takfiri ideologies in the history of Islam
Murji’ah is an Arabic word; it means “those who postpone”, also Murji’ah an early Islamic sect. Murji’ah held the opinion that God alone has the right to judge whether or not a Muslim has become an apostate. Consequently, Muslims should practice postponement of judgment on committers of major sins and not make charges of disbelief (’Takfiri’) or punish accordingly anyone who has professed Islam to be their faith.
In contrast, takfir (Arabic takfir) denotes ex-communication from Islam of one Muslim by another, i.e. one Muslim declaring another a non-believer (kafir) or an apostate. The act which precipitates takfir is termed mukaffir. A Muslim who takfirs another Muslim is sometimes called a takfiri.

Madkhalism is a strain of Islamist thought within the larger Salafist movement based on the writings of Rabee al-Madkhali.
