According to a statement of Professor Dr. Ezzeddin Mustafa Rasul the family of Bashar Assad the Syrian president is Kakayee Kurds of Khanqin later went to Syria.
Two years ago, Dr. Rasul demonstrated on his visit with Mam Jalal Talabani former PUK leader and some other political bureau leadership to Syria met Assad’s family, the family told them that “we are Kurds and originally from Khanaqin”.
During his private interview, he narrated a story “in 1993, President Jalal Talabani asked him to be with his delegation to Syria for some Parties’ issue, while other staff president Talabani brought just for vocation, but for some private cases I was his adviser”.
During the visit, I alongside with Talabani visited Jamil Assad older son of Assad, I was sit close to his son and whispered him is that true you are from Sinjar area of Kurdistan?
He replied with a loud voice and said “NO NO it is not True”, his Dad heard their negotiations and added “we are originally from Khanqin and our religion is Kakayee then came to Syria and got Assad name”.
Dr. Ezzeddin believed that “if Kurds of Syria used soft policy they could achieve more with the family of Assad”.
Professor Ezzeddin led of youth of his period when decided to go to Union Soviet for higher education study. Meanwhile, he was one of the unique instructors of college of languages at Sulaimani University.
He was one of the most important Kurdish characters in writings, journalism, language, literature and Kurdish history. He has several publishes as books, articles and historical researches about Kurds. In the early morning of October 3, 2019 in 85 in Sulaimani he passed away.
